Whitney Houston’s mother called the cops on the struggling diva when drugs sent her spiralling to a new low – because she thought it was the only way to save the singer.
Cissy Houston called on the officers to help her force the star into rehab.
In a candid new interview with Oprah Winfrey, which airs in next week (Sep 14, 2009), the singer reveals, “She said, ‘I’m not losing you to the world.’
“She walks in with these sheriffs and said, ‘I have a court injunction here; you’re either gonna do it my way or we’re just not gonna do this at all… We’ll just go on TV and you’re gonna retire. This is not worth it.’”
The armed intervention also left Houston’s then-husband Bobby Brown shook up.
The singer recalls, “She said, ‘If you move, Bobby, they’re (police) gonna take you down…’ He was scared. She said, ‘Let’s go… let’s do this.’”
